About this Cook
I love to cook almost anything, but I'm hopeless at baking still. I choose to blame my oven for that. :)
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook almost anything! In fact I usually try at least one new recipe a week. If I'm not trying something new, it means I'm too tired or stressed and I need a vacation!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I always cook the turkey dinner for Christmas and Thanksgiving. Yum!
My cooking triumphs
Turkey dinner for 15 people that went flawlessly! Also my first ever batch of Christmas baking on my own. The orange-cranberry cookies disappeared almost instantly, and that's a very good thing!
My cooking tragedies
Turkey dinner for 8 people that was a disaster. Mr. Turkey took way too long to thaw, and then way way too long to cook. We didn't eat until 9:30pm and even then the bird was only half done!

Baked Dijon Salmon
This was an absolute winner, but I skipped the nuts. It even convinced my anti-salmon boyfriend to like salmon!

Sausage and Bean Ragout
This soup-stew was just awesome. It made a ton (for two people, enough for four meals!) I cut the meat in half though, and used "hot" italian sausage from the market. So 1/2 lb of beef, 1/2 lb of sausage. I didn't have fresh basil, so I used about 1 tsp of dried. I used red kidney beans. For spinach I chopped up 1/2 bunch of fresh baby spinach leaves. I forgot the cheese :( For leftovers we just added more chicken broth to make it soupy again. Delicious!!

Home Style Macaroni and Cheese
This recipe is excellent! I adapted it a bit by making the milk as about 1 1/2 cup 1% milk and 3/4 cup 20% cream. I also sauteed 4 italian sausages before slicing them and adding them to the noodles with 2 minced cloves of garlic and 1/4 yellow onion, minced, also sauteed. To the sauce I added 1 small jalapeno pepper, seeded and diced. Just the right amount of heat and creaminess!!
