What should I make for dinner?
About this Cook
I AM A VERY ACTIVE CHRISTIAN!!! I am also very happily married. We are having our 20th anniversary this summer. Since my husband and I and our 3 kids traveled around a lot due to being in the military, my recipe box is very diverse. I love to try new things.
My favorite things to cook
Since cooking is a way for me to show my love for people, I generally will cook whatever they like. If I dont know how, I find out how. I love southern cooking. The down home comfort foods make everybody happy. Some of my favorite dishes to make are meatloaf, pepper steak, goulash, pork medallions and gravy, and all Italian dishes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We dont really have any cooking traditions except the holidays. My family wants the exact same meals every year. Thanksgiving - turkey, sausage and sauerkraut, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, green bean casserole (my way) and crescent rolls. Christmas - pizza and Easter - ham, scalloped potatoes, buttered peas, and crescent rolls
My cooking triumphs
Usually when I dont have all the ingredients for my usual dishes, I just throw what I have together. It almost always turns out to be a recipe that they want me to make again.
My cooking tragedies
I had never tried to make salmon before, so when it was on sale one day, I thought I would try it. I followed a recipe out of a cookbook to the letter but it still turned out REALLY bad. Even the cats wouldnt eat it. It discolored my pan and stunk up the whole house for days. Turns out the discounted fish was spoiled and nothing I could have done would have made it better. Even 18 years later, my family still laughs about the fish that almost killed us.

Imitation Crab Salad
OMG!!! This is soooo good. I saw the recipe but didnt have sourdough, so I improvised. I use honey wheat bread heels instead. I also added seasoned salt and garlic powder. This is perfect on a half an avocado. I am gonna go finish my lunch now but just had to rave about how good it is. Thank You!!!

Pat's Simple Penne
This is a yummy dish thats really easy to make. I think that next time, and there will be a next time, I might add some extra tomatoes.
