About this Cook
I'm just a meat & potatoes midwestern girl, I think everything is better with cheese and bacon. My home in Hollywood is always flowing with musicians - from poor and starving to rock star epicures. I cook in large quantities, with full faith that *someone* will eat it.
My favorite things to cook
I am always looking for new ways to prepare potatoes, as I eat them every day. I do a lot of grilling in the summer, and lots of slow cooking and soups in the winter.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Potato Dumplings - not only has the recipe been handed down unchanged over many generations, but it has a great story behind it.
My cooking triumphs
My biggest triumph is not one dish, but the reputation among my friends. They all beg for different things.
My cooking tragedies
Every single member of my family has had their first pumpkin pie come out green. I was determined when it was my turn that I should prove my superior cooking skills... but, alas. Green as botulism. Tasted great and with the same recipe it has come out fine ever since then, but I guess we just have a curse.

Big Soft Ginger Cookies
These tasted EXACTLY like Grandma's (the brand) Molasses cookies. Sooooooo yummy!

Greek Lentil Soup (Fakes)
I never knew my husband liked lentils until I decided to try this soup. He complained about the vinegar, but that didn't stop him from inhaling the bowl in 30 seconds flat!

Mustard Vinaigrette
This was a four star dressing (just a bit too sweet) until I tried it on pasta salad. Cooked pasta, mustard vinaigrette, and whatever is lying in the fridge = my invitation to any barbecue all summer. No mayo spoilage!!
