Chocolate Pudding Cake III

Reviewed: May 9, 2009
Delicious! Had a taste for a sweet but was not going to write a review as I did not have a full 1/2 cup of cocoa and had no chocolate chips on hand. Made it to satisfy my sweet tooth and it was great! Let it sit for 20 min and it made a wonderful pudding on the bottom. Next time I will use the chips for more chocolate flavor. Surprisingly low calorie for a desert which is an added bonus.

Strawberry Oatmeal Breakfast Smoothie

Reviewed: May 7, 2009
Just what I was looking for; a healthy, low fat, cholesterol lowering, filling breakfast drink!!! What more could you ask for? I often make without the banana and it is still thick from the oats. As other reviewers have suggested, put the oats in the blender first and blend to turn into powder before adding rest of ingredients Thank you for submitting!!

Best Hamburger Ever

Reviewed: May 7, 2009
Sorry but did not care for them. I like a hamburger to taste like...well, a hamburger! Too many ingredients resulting in too many calories, high sodium content and fat. My own version is extra lean ground beef, a couple shakes of Worchester and a drop or two of liquid smoke and the flavor is awesome. Add onion and non-fat cheese on top and you have a great tasting burger!

Winter Fruit Salad with Lemon Poppyseed Dressing

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2009
This was delicious! I highly recommend using Feta cheese as it is a stronger cheese and compliments the dressing. The skins I leave on the fruit for an attractive appearance. I use real lemons, not a concentrate for ultimate flavor. I had pecans on hand which went great with the salad but sure cashews would be great also. I used Smart Balance Omega Oil instead of vegetable oil. Thanks for submitting!!!!

Chicken Tortilla Soup V

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2008
I have updated this review. This soup is delicious! I can't get enough of it! I love the corn and will add more in next time. To cut down on the sodium I use low sodium chicken broth. Because I used skinless, boneless chick breasts, I cut it up in thin strips and sauted it along with the onion, garlic, and cumin to give the chicken more flavor. I will be making this one many times to come. Thanks for the recipe!

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2008
Very good!! Followed recipe as written. Did not add the 1/2tsp. salt as you get plenty of salt from the boulin cubes. I used 99% fat free/low sodium chick broth and 1% milk.

Zesty Slow Cooker Chicken Barbecue

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2008
Followed the recipe exactly. Cooked on high for 4 hours. Found the chicken came out too dry if you plan on eating a whole breast. So I shredded it and stirred it back into the sauce. This way it was perfect! Wonderful flavor. I use Master Piece BBQ sauce. Served it on buns with potato salad to accommodate the meal. A great summer dinner. My daughter and boyfriend loved it!!

Herbed Rice Pilaf

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2008
This dish did not have enough flavor for me. However, after reading the reviews, I used Bemused 1 suggestion and used the beef broth and beef boulin cube instead of the chicken broth. I also added a package of frozen peas and I used whole grain brown rice. This way it's a keeper!

Italian Pasta Salad I

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2008
This was a great recipe!! I usually 'tweek' before I make but not this time! I prefer it room temperature. Very easy and quick to make as well as delicious. This will be great for those summer BBQ partys coming up this year. Thanks for sharing! Update (3-24-09) I made this pasta for my Bunco night (12 ladies) and there was barely a spoonful left. Everyone commented on how much they loved it!!

Bacon Wrapped Smokies

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2008
Just made these for yesterday's Super Bowl Party (go Giants!) for the first time. Now I know why your recipe got a 5 star rating, Jill! They were a big hit!! I really didn't think they were that much work OR time consuming! Just cut the bacon and wrap 'em up in the smokies, how hard is that?! The bacon stayed wrapped up so toothpicks were not necessary. I too, used a ziplock bag to evenly coat and sprinkled more on top. After cooking, I transfered to the crock pot to keep them warm. Definitely line pan with tin foil for easy clean up!!

Nacho Chip Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2008
Thanks for the recipe, Kathy. My boyfriend and I both thought it was good. I always go through the reviews before I make a dish-which is what I love about this site. Just did a couple of changes. After browning the meat, I added mild taco seasoning to it. I used almost a whole jar of salsa in place of the tomates and green chilies. I also used 4 cheese mexican, shredded. Crumbled the chips and layered. To me it tasted more like frito pie. Very good and filling.

Amish Meatloaf

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2007
Thank you for submitting this recipe!!! It is so good!! Actually have been making this for months now. My grown up son has never been a meat eater and neither of my 2 kids care for meatloaf. Except for this one!! They actually request for me to make it. I always read the reviews which is most helpful. Took advice of the majority and used only 1/4 cup of brown sugar that gets poured on top of the loaf. Only other changes: I add more butter crackers to try to hold it together better plus add a large handful of mild cheddar cheese and a chopped green pepper.

Coconut Cake III

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2007
Great cake, Diane! I exchanged the veg.oil with the cream of coconut. I stuck with the yellow mix as I don't care for white cake. Used Pecans instead of the walnuts, and used coconut pudding instead of the vanilla. Shredded the coconut up fine. For the frosting I used my own made up recipe as the one here would have been too sweet for my family. I bought instant coconut pudding and 8 oz of cream cheese. Mixed together and spread on cake. Put a thin layer of cool whip on top of the pudding mix and topped it off by adding toasted coconut on top. Had never toasted coconut before. So good that way. Easy-just put in oven for a few minutes. Keep an eye out as they brown up very quickly.
