A brother and sister duo who dabbles in the fine art of cooking.
One lives in Singapore, currently serving in the national army and loves jazz, the other is studying in Australia and loves art.
Both are avid video gamers and each has their own style of cooking. The sister is a casual, laid-back cook, while the brother is a hardcore traditionalist.
My favorite things to cook
Anything easy and simple that tastes good! Some of the home favourites: Tom Yum Soup, Green curry, Sticky soy chicken, Grilled foccacia and bruschetta, Indian curries, Stir-fried veggies, Potato dishes. One pot meals, casseroles and baked dishes are popular in the house too!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Chinese New Year & The Annual Ancestors' Banquet for our family, as kids, was a ritual.
Coming from a liberal minded family, we were still deeply rooted in Chinese traditions thanks to our dear Grandma who made sure she carried out the important Chinese customs without fail.
Large serving plates of finely roasted whole chicken and duck, as well as barbecued pork roasts and various fine Chinese vegetable dishes spread out on the table together with Chinese wine, rice and pastries.
She'd pray at the family altar in the lounge room in front of our gigantic lawn and massive koi pond (but with no koi!) and we'd have a feast after she's prayed.
After her passing, our family have stopped these fine Chinese customs. But we carry with us the valuable, wonderfully cherished memories, as well as knowledge, to perhaps repeat these customs for our children to follow in loving memory of our dear Granny.
My cooking triumphs
-Moroccan-spiced chicken kebabs with continental salad.
-Fish head soup with rice vermicelli
-Braised whole dark soy chicken with peppercorns
-Chicken Jalfrezi that didn't taste like water and spices. :)
-Nonya Curry Chicken
-South Indian curry vegetable
-Ooey Gooey Triple Chocolate Fudge Brownies
My cooking tragedies
-Over-cooked chicken kebabs
-Rock hard bruschetta
-Soggy noodle soup
-Overestimating my ingredients
-Watery Chinese food
