About this Cook
40 years old with children ranging in age from 6 months to 16 years. Have worked for the last 12 years in the water industry. Born in California, grew up in Utah and Texas and moved back to California 20 years ago. Bought a saxaphone for my 40th and plan to play (as soon as two little ones get out of diapers)
My favorite things to cook
I love fresh, red, RIPE tomatoes for pico de gallo, or bruschetta. I love making platters of fresh veggies, fruit and cheeses. Warmed brie with sauteed portabella mushrooms and roasted garlic. Homemade soups of any kind. Grilled or Broiled Salmon. Homemade raviolis
My favorite family cooking traditions
Since our family is a "mine, yours, ours" family, most holidays everyone is always coming or going, so I find that we have fun food activities that do not revolve around the major holidays, but around the seasons. In spring we love making hard boiled eggs wrapped in onion skins - so pretty. Early summer we make fresh blueberry pancakes with a fireworks display of food coloring. The kids call them tie-dye pancakes. No winter would be complete without stone soup and real snow cones.
My cooking triumphs
About 15 years ago I got interested in making preserves and herbed vinegars and oils. People still ask about my red-pepper relish, jalepeno jelly and basil oil.
My cooking tragedies
Burgers-in-a-blanket - by far. Can't remember what major cookbook this recipe came from, but even starving strays would not eat this.

French Cookies (Belgi Galettes)
Delicious and fun to make. I used my waffle cone iron and they turned out great. Too bad I could only make one at a time and the kids would eat them as soon as they came off the iron.

Cream Puffs
Great recipe. Had to make 70 for my son's class and they puffed up perfectly. Didn't change a thing. Thanks for the recipe.

Peanut Butter Kiss Cookies
I am glad I waited a day to review. I did not like these when they were warm - too gooey and tasted more like a candy than a cookie - so I made a traditional peanut butter cookie recipe and put these in an airtight container. Tried them again the next day and they had firmed a little and were definitely softer than the traditional recipe ones. I thought they were super easy to make, kept well and made a beautiful cookie. Thanks!
