About this Cook
I'm a land surveyor by profession, but I love to cook. I especially like to bake.
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy cooking Italian food. Baking cookies and cakes are my favorite though.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I'm pretty much the only cook in the family. Both of my grandma's cooked very well, but they passed away before I could really learn anything from them. Their specialties were pies and fried chicken.
My cooking triumphs
I cooked for about 15 people on the fourth of July in 2008.
My cooking tragedies
I have at least one tragedy a month. Last month I made chocolate chip cookies that turned out more like chocolate chip cake. Tasty, but not what I intended.

Hummingbird Cake
Very good. I will have to agree with some other reviews, though. This does taste an awful lot like banana nut bread with icing. However, it is wonderful. I used pecans instead of walnuts and added some to the icing. Overall a good recipe.

Pineapple Upside-Down Cake VII
This came out perfect. I must admit, I was skeptical. I was afraid it would burn on the bottom before it cooked all the way through, but I was wrong. It worked out well.

Amish White Bread
This is a great recipe. I did make a few alterations. I reduced the sugar to 2 Tablespoons and raised the salt to 1/2 Tablespoon. Came out great.
