About this Cook
I'm a college student away from home for the first time. Consequently, I've never done a whole lot of cooking before. (Well, my mom didn't neglect my cooking education, of course, but many things you simply don't learn for yourself until you start cooking on a regular basis.) Having to now do all my cooking myself, I have discovered a new passion I never knew I had: cooking!
My favorite things to cook
stir-fry; anything with tortillas, salsa and cheese; dessert!; brownies; Ramen; pasta; I especially love trying new recipes (that don't take too long!)
My favorite family cooking traditions
Christmas bread! I don't know what it's really called, but it's a sweetbread that my aunt makes every Christmas and will never give us the recipe for!
My cooking triumphs
Ramen noodles are a very useful, versatile (not too bad tasting) thing.
My cooking tragedies
Well, I don't know that I've had any tragedies-per se-just some VERY interesting experiences that I have learned a lot from: don't ever add cold oil to a hot frying pan! baking powder and soda are NOT the same thing... don't forget to add eggs to your brownies... don't go away and leave a cinnamon roll in the microwave (still running!)... ALWAYS be accurate in your measurements-especially if you've never made it before. Every single one of the aforementioned things I learned the hard way through... I guess you could call them tragedies, but because I now know theses things, I suppose they could really be called triumphs.
