About this Cook
A little about me. I am a professional cook. I wouldn't quite call myself a chef. I've lots to learn yet. On and off I'd say I've been cooking for 8 years. I currently work at a newly opened restaurant in Dillon, Colorado called The Red Mountain Grill (www.redmountaingrill.com).
My favorite things to cook
My favourites are especially Asian dishes. I tend to side on the more traditional ways and methods of cooking as these ways date back centuries. I also enjoy cooking recipes of European origin dating back to the middle ages. It is very interesting to learn how things were done then and also what recipes we have now that have stemmed from that period.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I come from a very large Dutch/Indonesian family. Although Dutch and Indonesian food isn't a popular category, I still enjoy learning and cooking food from which my family has enjoyed for many centuries. It is also interesting being that Indonesia was once a Dutch colony, the many foods the Dutch and Indonesians now share.
My cooking triumphs
It has taken many attempts but I have become quite good at japanese cooking. Doesn't seem like much but Japanese cooking really is quite hard.
My cooking tragedies
Tragedies...My first attempt at making Miso soup ended up catching my best friends stove on fire, almost losing my dog who was so scared he took off for 2 hours and almost compeletly messing up my first date with a girl my best friend introduced me to.

Crepes
I too had a hard time with this recipe. The batter is too thick. I added one more cup of milk and it came out perfectly. You were definetly going in the right direction. I also added for personal preference a dash of allspice and a teaspoon of vanilla.
