About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
My current fave is lemon-egg soup with chicken and orzo because it's tasty, creamy and super easy once you get the technique down.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Whoever lives in the family house takes charge of dinner for at least one day of the week! Doesn't matter if it's a flop or a rave, 'cause it's family and all that matters is that we're fed. It's a GREAT relaxed way to practice cooking.
My cooking tragedies
Before a stand mixer became part of the kitchen's "appliance corner," a friend and I once tried to make whipped cream with the hand mixer. For some reason, the whipping cream came out too liquid-y and I couldn't save it. Nonetheless, we spread it on the chocolate cake, only to find that it wasn't really "spreadable." We ended up RINSING off the cream, drying it with paper towels, and topping it with Nutella instead. In the end, no one could tell that the cake went through a battle, but my friend and I were half horrified, half laughing our butts off throughout the ordeal!

Kalua Pig in a Slow Cooker
easy peasy to make, and perfect for large crowds! make sure you let the pork cook long enough to get tender. maybe it's just me, but I didn't know that slow cookers help make tough meats get tender. :)

Supreme Apple Butter
everyone loved this (and I served it many times!), especially with pork chops and pancakes. I had to make two batches 'cause so many people wanted some to take home!
