About this Cook
I love to have get togethers with friends and family. I have been the "mother" to alot of my single guy friends in need of nourishment. Love to cook just about anything.
My favorite things to cook
Love Chinese food. Like to use my slow cooker, easiest transport to work. Took a cake decorating class with one of my girlfriends recently, so am kinda on that kick right now.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Comfort food. Remember a dish that my mom made when I was a child, similar to Shepards pie. Still make it to this day! Baking at the holidays. Mom was always making stuff around Christmas.
My cooking triumphs
Broadening my horizons! I will just about try anything once. Make a mean spicy romano chicken!
My cooking tragedies
Not mine, but I have to share a funny story. My mom and I made caramels for a friend of ours. She was amazed at how square our caramels were. She then proceeded to tell us that we must have some heat resistant hands to be able to form those caramels so well without getting burned! Needless to say mom and I had a pretty good laugh at that one!

Hearty Split Pea Soup
Although I didn't use my slow cooker, I followed the recipe almost exact. The only deviation was I omitted the milk at the end as I wanted my soup thicker. I also used chicken broth instead of water. I was pleasantly surprised with the results!! First time I have ever attempted split pea soup and I will always, always use this recipe in the future! Thanks so much.

Chili Verde Stew
Although, I didn't follow the recipe to a "t", I think that the results were great. I didn't want to have to go to the store, so I omitted the g.pepper and the wine. I didn't have any canned chilis, so I used a can of Rotel and because of this I also omitted the salsa. Put the pork shoulder in the crock pot with garlic and cumin, added the rest and had a great dinner last night. Thanks!

Big Soft Ginger Cookies
These are delicious. I used butter instead of margarine. I also ended up using about 1/2 c. more flour than stated as my dough was quite sticky. I flattened my cookies and wished that I wouldn't have. They came out very flat, although that may be due to the altitude as I am in Wyoming. Great taste and with a little tweeking I know I will use this recipe again!! Thanks!
