Both my parents love to cook - so I started helping in the kitchen at a very young age. My cooking has been influenced by my parents as well as my grandparents, my friends and the traveling I do. Since I`ve lived abroad for quite a few years my cooking has become an experimental mixture of foods and tastes from all over. I love to cook something I've had somewhere and give it my own little twist.
My favorite things to cook
FONDUE! ... with a few friends ... just sit, eat and talk!
I also love to try new things, especially with ingredients that I`m not familiar with. At this point I am trying a lot of vietnamese and cambodian dishes. I love those colorful fruits and vegetables they use.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Roasted duck with gravy, potato dumplings and cabbage ... mmmmh ... very german ... very good.
My cooking triumphs
The other day I tried making a pie crust from scratch ( I usually get the refrigerated kind) for the first time it actually turned out flaky!
My cooking tragedies
One time I tried making an indian dish for a few friends. Since I didn't have all the ingredients that were listed in the recipe I decided to improvise. BIG Mistake! The smell was so discusting I could hardly stand staying in the kitchen ... never mind eating it!
