Beer Bread I

Kellogg's® Rice Krispies Treats® Wreaths

This recipe was a hit at a recent holiday party, but I made a few changes. First, I used corn flakes. They look a lot more like leaves than rice krispies do. Second, I didn't use frosting. I put the food coloring directly into the marshmallow mixture. It took a bit more color, but the results looked much better than icing. I also added a drop or two of red to get the green to darken properly.

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

Thanks for a great recipe! I'm glad that this recipe makes three loaves because my family will be none the wiser when I show up with only two tomorrow! :D P.S. If you take out the baking soda, flour, oil and water then you end up with supertasty pumpkin pie filling. :D

Waffles I

Before I found this, I was using the recipe on the Bisquick box. Bleah. I made some modifications to this recipe. I used whole-wheat graham flour, liquid egg whites, powdered nonfat milk, kosher salt, and Sugar in the Raw (cane sugar.) I used 2.5 tablespoons of cane sugar, since the graham flour is a little bitter and cane sugar isn't quite the same as white. The result is tasty, delicious, and uber-healthy. :D Top them with some (homemade) cinnamon applesauce and you'll be in breakfast heaven. I didn't stick the leftover batter in the fridge. Instead, I used it all at once and put a batch of waffles in the freezer. During the week I can just pop a couple waffles in the toaster and go. Yay, freezerwaffles!

Peppy's Pita Bread

I was so thrilled to find this recipe! Pita bread is usually expensive and hard to find, but this recipe is easy and cheap! Tip: I have my heat turned down to save money during the winter, which seems to impact the way yeast rises. My solution is to cover everything loosely with an electric blanket and turn it on high. A gentle bit of extra warmth seems to help.
