About this Cook
I'm a SAHM of three, and an army wife. While my husband is in Iraq, I'm determined to learn all sorts of new recipes to make him when he comes home. I'm also teaching the kids how to cook. They get to plan a menu, make out the shopping list, check to see which items we have at home, do price comparison shopping when they pick out their items, and make the meal with as little help as possible. They have done an awesome job so far and it's some of the best times a parent and child can have together!
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake. Cookies, cakes, desserts, I'm a whiz with my Kitchen Aid! I also enjoy grilling, and making crock pot meals.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom and grandma were huge into baking. I loved to sit in the kitchen on a Saturday afternoon learning their secrets and licking the beaters.
My cooking triumphs
I send homemade cookies to my husband in Iraq a lot. He misses my baking and I'm happy to give him that little piece of home.
My cooking tragedies
My first Father's Day with my husband I made him brats and potato salad. Horrible, horrible potato salad. Potatoes were cooked far too long and I added too much mayo. It was mashed potatoes with mayo. I haven't attempted it since!

Monkey Peanut Butter Bars
These were wonderful for a family who loves peanut butter and chocolate! I made them exactly by the recipe and loved them. They were eaten way too fast!

Lasagna Roll Ups
This was great! The kids really enjoyed it. They prefer "meatless" lasagna. I added minced garlic to the cheese mixture, and we had a tofu malfunction so we didn't get to use it. I was disappointed because I was looking forward to introducing the kids to tofu this way. We'll definitely add it next time.

BREAKSTONE'S Fruit-Filled Coffee Cake
I made this for a pot-luck style brunch and everyone really enjoyed it. My kids and husband enjoyed the leftovers, too!
