About this Cook
My boyfriend and I began cooking in an effort to cut back on the cost of food (those microwave dinners cost a fortune!) In the past six months we have mastered beef stew, most chicken dishes, salmon, and cereal (I've got the pouring down like no other). Thank god we aren't vegetarians, although I would love to learn some vegetarian dishes (meat ain't cheap either).
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook bread, but have yet to make an edible loaf. I seem to be pretty good with meats, but just awful with breads and cookies, which is unfortunate considering my sweet tooth.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Being chased out of the kitchen by my mother.
My cooking triumphs
Did I mention the cereal?
My cooking tragedies
When I was about 13 I tried to make potato soup, only I misread the instructions and used corn syrup instead of corn starch (I didn't know either one from Adam), then tried to fix my mistake by adding more and more water... needless to say we ate instant Mac that night.

Gramma's Cream of Broccoli
This recipe was suprisingly good! I didn't try this for the longest time because it seemed too simple and basic to be any good. I added some finely grated parmesan cheese to it at the end - other then than I followed the recipe exactly as written. Oh, but if you are cooking for more than one or two people I would definately double or even triple the recipe - does not make very much.

Roasted Garlic Potato Soup with Smoked Salmon
This recipe was delicious! The longer the soup simmers the more it will take on the smoked salmon flavor - great for cold and rainy days!
