About this Cook
I have recently began paying more attention to what is in the foods that we eat. I have learned a lot about food allergies and the negative effects of additives and preservitives. I am also looking into some information that I recently received about sugar substitutes...and it's not good. Some of the sites that I've found helpful so far are: http://www.lactose.co.uk/milkallergy/foodadditives100.html *** http://www.drrapp.com/htips.htm *** http://www.askdrsears.com/html/4/T041800.asp *** http://www.shirleys-wellness-cafe.com/nutraswt.htm ***
My cooking triumphs
Anytime my family likes what I make and asks me to make it again! Also, when they tell me that they think the meal that I cook is better than the restaraunts'!

Powdered Sugar Cookies I
I made these on Valentine's Day, for the kids. They were very good. They tasted even better the next day! The only substitution I made was vinegar in place of the cream of tarter, because I didn't have any. I also used home made butter to make these (I was out of butter, too, so I whipped cream until it was butter.) I cut the recipe in half and made the cookies a little smaller and I got 60 of them! The cookies were nice and soft and yummy!

Zucchini Brownies
I got the kids to eat zucchini! These were very moist, and the kids had no idea that there was zucchini in them! I tasted it a little bit, but it may have been just because I knew it was there. I used a fine grater and grated the zucchini by hand, and that worked well. The frosting was like fudge! It was very good! But, (I don't believe I'm saying this) the brownies were a little too sweet with all that frosting. I will make both again, but I don't think I will be using them together. (Don't let this stop you from trying it!)*****
