About this Cook
About me humm not lots to say here really. I love to cook and have been cooking for 30+ years. I love to try new recipes and come up with my own versions of them as well. I work night shift so I am always looking for crock pot ideas to make while I sleep. I love this website it's great!
My favorite things to cook
Well lets see if I had to pick one it would be sweets! Not that they are my favorite thing but I do love to make them. I love to see the enjoyment on peoples faces. I love to cook casserols,Breads and one dish dinners as well. I could go on and on.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Oh my I guess one thing that stuck with me from my mothers cooking was using bacon grease and yes I know it is not good for you but using in moderation is the key I think. My mother was from Kentucky so cornbread was a staple lot's and I still make it from time to time.
My cooking triumphs
Sometimes it's the small and simple things in cooking that are so great and yummy. For example the following recipe is one of the best side dishes you can make and it is so simple it gose with anything from chicken to bbq you name it and it works. Cornbread casserole....1 box of jiffy mix corn muffin mix 1 15 oc whole kernal corn draned 115 oz can of cream stile corn and 1 stick of melted margarine or butter Directions mix all together and put in a buttered 8x8 pan bake for appx 35 minuets at 350 it is wonderful.
My cooking tragedies
Making (milk) gravy Ha Ha Ha I started srirring it and it wound up in a ball on my spoon. By the way I was 9 years old. I make it perfect now...Smile

Cornbread Casserole
I have been using this recipe for years and it is wonderful. I always use Jiffy corn muffin mix. I am sure the 1 ounce of sour cream is a typo mine calls for 8 ounces or you can even leave it out. This is a great recipe that goes with most anything from meatloaf to bbq'd anything. Try it you will make this again and again.

Pumpkin Bread IV
This is truly a great bread. As another reviewer had said I did not use 3 cups of pumpkin. I used a whole 29oz. can and I saw no ill effects in doing so. I also did not have the spices but had pumpkin pie spice and it worked well. I also doubled the spices. I will absolutly be using this again. Thank you so much for posting it.
