About this Cook
Married to my best friend for over 36 years. Love to cook bake and try new things. Hubby likes to eat, so that is a good thing!! I play piano and sing...enjoy doing puzzles love lighthouses and collect nutcrackers. But most important of all... I am a Born Again Believer, which means Jesus is my Lord and Savior and in complete control of my life!!
My favorite things to cook
I cook everything..[the profile was very limited] Chinese Polish the old standards of meat and potatoes you name it. Also like using wild game, hubby enjoys hunting, so I always have a ready supply.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love continuing the Polish traditions begun by my husbands dear parents. Easter and the delicious filling Bosch soup, Kolbassa & ham w/ all the trimmings Christmas Eve with Cabbage soup salmon patties Nalesniki. And of course all of the YUMMY sweets... My wonderful MIL was a fantastic cook and thankfully she gladly shared her recipes with me. There were a lot of other traditions that went along with the food; that were taken care of by my FIL,sadly those have fallen by the way side since their passing.
My cooking triumphs
Can't remember any that stand out, though probably had them in my time.
My cooking tragedies
We've all had plenty of these also, I'm no exception! We all had to learn!! Didn't like the categories of achievement on the profile. Too broad...we all have more to learn. Even though I love to cook and have more experience than most, I still have lots to learn.

Soft Oatmeal Raisin Cookies
I rate this a 5 star only because that is all I can give it They are wonderful!!! Made it as oatmeal raisin the first time adding 1 tsp. cinnamon and 1/2 c. sliced almonds to rave reviews, then changed the recipe to 1 chopped apple and 1 c. chopped walnuts with a tsp. of cinnamon, again yummy results. We are on a low Chol. diet and use Olivio it worked fine. As far as keeping...I freeze the cookies for hubbies lunches and they are wonderful...also bake them on parchment paper and they bake much better. Thanks so much for the recipe!....Carol

Sam's Famous Carrot Cake
Yes indeed this is the very best carrot cake I've ever had! Made as is. I would give it more than 5 stars were it possible. Who needs icing or glaze...it is so deliciously rich it can easily stand on it's own. Made it in a Bundt pan [just fit] and it baked up with a wonderful crust all the way around,in just about the same time. Thanks Brian [& Sam] for sharing. This is definitely a keeper! Lovestocook
