Followed the recipe exactly and it was delicious. May try some other suggestions of adding oats or flax seed. Thanks for a wonderful recipe!

Amish White Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2009
The BEST bread I have ever had! I had never made bread before and TRIED to use my Joy cookbook, but after three tries gave up and came here. I later found out that the recipe in Joy is wrong and a correction was later put out.... not sure it matters though. This will be the only white bread I ever make! It was so simple and came out picture perfect and delicious!! Thank you so much!

Beef Barley Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2009
I used her recipe as a base and other reviews to make a delicious soup! Thanks so much for the basics! I cut my meat up first, then dredged it in flour and browned it in my stock pot. Then I added one small box of beef broth and let it simmer. After that I added onions, celery, carrots, potatoes, garlic, a large handful of barley and two cans of diced tomatoes with garlic and oregano. I also added a second box of beef broth, two bay leaves, some parsley, some thyme, and salt and pepper. I added a little water to top it all off and let it cook as long as possible. The best beef barley soup I have ever had!! Thanks so much for all the help!!

Mrs. Sigg's Fresh Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2008
This was the first time I had used real pumpkin in a pie-and this recipe was AMAZING! I actually just cleaned my pumpkin out-threw it in a microwave bowl, covered it with plastic wrap and nuked it for 15 minutes. You could just take the skin right off, no fuss. Then I took a hand held blender and blended it for a minute and it was a perfect puree. Otherwise-I followed the recipe to a tee. After following the recipe it was the consistency of water when I poured it in my homemade crust, but it turned out perfect. BEST pumpkin pie I have ever had....and I am not even a pumpkin pie fan really! I considered using a topping..but this pie doesn't need it! Five stars for sure!

Avocado, Tomato and Mango Salsa

I LOVE this salsa! You can top fish with it, or like we did-eat it all before the fish is done with corn chips! Amazing!

Mandarin Orange Cake I

Reviewed: May 13, 2008
I love this cake! I always just make the yellow cake per the box directions for two nine inch rounds. For the frosting I mix in some of the mandarine orange juice with the pineapple, pudding mix and whipped topping. I then frost and layer the middle and decorate the top with mandarine oranges-makes it so pretty when you slice the cake, and adds the extra orange flavor! Delicious!

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies I

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2007
Excellent cookie-but I should have read the reviews first. I learned the hard way that these (at least in my oven) take much more than the 8 minutes...probably the range for my oven is 10-13 minutes. Great cookie though-absolutely delicious!

Addictive Pumpkin Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2007
I won't lie, at first I wasn't pleased. I was looking for light, and airy (cakelike) and a strong pumpkin taste. You can definetly tell that these are "lowfat"-they are much chewier than a regular full fat muffin, and the pumpkin isn't too pronounced. I brought them to work and everyone raved! I kept some at home, and the next day tasted them again---they were delicious! And they really are addicting...I still am blown away! They might not have been what I thought I wanted, but I LOVE them now! I added dark choc. chips, walnuts, and raisins-WOW! I think next time I may add craisens instead of raisens. My husband likes them just with the choc. chips. Forget that they are lowfat-they are just a great muffin! If you are usually a full fat baker, just give them a day-they truly do become an addiction! Thanks for the recipe!
