I grew up in the restaurant business and cooked professionally for almost 30 years. I started when I was 12. I have also taught martial arts, been in sales and was a stylist for 12 years. No I am not 100 but some of those things overlapped.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake and cook Asian and Mediterranean foods.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Homemade pasta and ravioli around Thanksgiving and Christmas and baking around Easter.
My cooking triumphs
I helped start a restaurant in Stowe VT and had a catering business for a few years. I am writing a family cookbook at present.
My cooking tragedies
I was cooking Thanksgiving dinner for my new husband and I was using one of those aluminum disposable roasting pans. I was checking the turkey and instead of sliding out the oven rack I slid the roaster. I tore a hole in it but I didnt know it. About 15 minutes later the oven caught on fire from the turkey fat. By the time I cleaned up the mess the guests were to arrive in the next half hour. The turkey, needless to say, wasnt done, so I had to cut it in quarters and bake it that way. The meal ended up being wonderful and we had something to talk about during dinner!
