About this Cook
I am a network tech. for a major telecommunications company, computer geek, and a bit of a health-oriented guy that likes to do stuff outdoors (when the weather isn't freezing cold). I LOVE food (though I am quite slim) and I LOVE to cook.
My favorite things to cook
Madras curry (veg/tofu/chicken/beef), burgers (yes, with real beef...) on the wood grill in summertime, banana bread, stir-fry (mostly veggie), cheese souffle, omelettes, crepes, salads, beef and/or lamb stew (hybrid bourgogne/irish style).
My favorite family cooking traditions
homemade pizzas (mostly at birthday parties for some reason), yoghurt (gotta add maple syrup or something to make it edible), bangers and mash..., scalloped potatoes, roast beef + yorkshire pudding.
My cooking triumphs
Curry, soup (daal is my favorite), stew, burgers, salads...
My cooking tragedies
Tuna burgers that disintegrated on the BBQ in the summertime... and I had no backup plan :p Tuna meat is NOT easy to make burgers with. And it doesn't even taste that great anyway :p

Rosemary Braised Lamb Shanks
A very "ok" (read: standard) recipe. Very nice, flavorful, cheap recipe. Love slow cooking cheap cuts of meat... you can eat like a king, with minimal impact on your pocketbook. Saved money can be used for important things such as: large screen TVs and beer :)

Seafood Stuffed Avocados
Very, very good recipe. Don't be shy to omit the crab. It's not really essential to the recipe and you can save lots of $ by not using it ;)

Mushroom Sauce Baked Pork Chops
This is what I would refer to as soul food... I made this recipe with 4 boneless, organic chops and red potatoes (those thin-skinned ones that taste slightly "sweeter"). As long as you make sure to slice the potatoes thin enough so they will cook properly, this recipe is idiot-proof! (as demonstrated by me being able to make it, lol) I am a relatively slim guy that usually doesn't go back for seconds (or thirds) unless I am *really* impressed. This dish so good that I not only ran to grab another chop, I almost took a 3rd one! Such an awesome thing to make on a chilly fall or winter night... yummm!
