About this Cook
I was raised in Altus,Oklahoma but my family is from Kentucky, so of course...I absolutely love baking anything sweet. I'm kind of funny b/c I'm about as non-domesticated as they come, I don't like to cook, but I love to bake & I love to entertain. My husband & I have parties as often as we can get people together.
My favorite things to cook
I love to make Monkey Cake, Chocolate Gravy, Mississippi Mud, No Bakes, Pineapple Casserole, & pretty much anything else that's not good for you. Ahhh...but perhaps my most coveted recipe is for my Great Grandmothers PeanutButter Bourbon Balls...they are AMAZING.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother makes the best Chocolate Gravy I've ever had and my whole family makes it. I can't even make it like she does, & I swear, I do everything the same way...it's something about her touch. Chocolate Gravy is pretty much a southern delicacy in the South & just about everyone down there knows about this recipe. My mother & my grandmother make it for me everytime I go home. I can't wait for Christmas!
My cooking triumphs
Everyone I've ever made Monkey Cake for begs for the recipe and it's usually devoured within an hour & that's if just 2 people are eating on it. I also made Thanksgiving dinner for the first time this year & everyone was asking for my recipes...that was flattering.
My cooking tragedies
None yet, but then again, I usually don't cook anything that I haven't made a hundred times

Sweet Potato Souffle I
This was a good recipe, although next time I will follow the recipe vs. taking advice from others. I cut the sugar to 1/2 cup as suggested & added more sweet potatoes (5 cups) and it just wasn't as tasty as I think it could've been. Luckily I had made a traditional sweet potato casserole and I ended up mixing the two & it was too die for!! Next time...I will do everything the recipe calls for and add mini marshmellows to the top when it's done to broil for 2 minutes. It will be fabulous

Awesome Sausage, Apple and Cranberry Stuffing
I made this recipe for the first time for Thanksgiving. Everyone absolutely loved it & were begging for the recipe. No one at my table had ever had anything like it. I did follow other's advice and add an egg b/c I baked it in a dish vs. putting it inside the turkey. I also used fresh herbs/spices & added extra chicken broth to keep it most.
