Hazelnut cake with cream cheese filling and dark chocolate ganache frosting (vegan)
My beautiful pink cupcakes!
About this Cook
I'm 25 and just now realizing how much I love to bake. My dream (though right now I'm a psychology undergrad) is to someday own a successful small business like a cafe that bakes its own desserts and of course, high quality, organic, fair trade coffees. That would make me very happy. I also love baking for others, I taste my food but nothing makes me happier than others enjoying what I made.
My favorite things to cook
Anything dessert-y really. Cakes are probably my favourite, though they take a lot of time. But I can really put my all into them. I love making anything with chocolate, as long as it's good cocoa/chocolate.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandma used to make absolutely amazing gefilte fish. No one's ever made anything even resembling that. It's cheesy but it was my favourite comfort food and no one will ever even come close.
My cooking triumphs
An 8-layer vegan hazelnut cake with vegan chocolate cream cheese filling and dark belgian chocolate ganache. It took be about 5 hours to make overall but I was so proud of it.
My cooking tragedies
Lemon meringue pie. I tried making it probably 2 or 3 times and I could never get the lemon curd to set properly. I am taking a break from trying until further notice. It was very disappointing. Custards are hard!!!

Candy Cane Cookies I
Overall good but lists too much butter/shortening and too much salt. Fat starts to separate out and a teaspoon of salt is way too much for this recipe. You could taste the salt too much.
