Greek Pasta Salad I

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2009
This was just okay for me, but other people seemed to like it. A third grader had thirds of it, so I am giving it four stars instead of three.

Alyson's Broccoli Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2009
I took this, along with 2 other dishes to a gathering and this was the most talked about recipe amongst the adults there. Made it the day before. I did add sliced grapes and used crasins. A beautiful, delicious salad.

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2009
As if this needed another 5 stars! I subbed Splenda for the sugar since I am diabetic. One loaf, I made as written. To the other two loafs, I added a handful of Craisins, pecans and a tablespoon or so of mini chocolate chips, per my daughter's request. As written, it rates 5+ stars, but we did enjoy our additions a bit more as it took it over the top.

Baked Teriyaki Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2009
I thought this was delicious and my daughter thought it was just "okay." I really liked the sauce a lot and will never buy teriyaki sauce again. I made one sub and that was to use orange juice in the place of water. I too, just poured the sauce over the chicken.

Pork Medallions with Balsamic Vinegar and Capers

I made this several weeks ago and forgot to rate it..Marianne, this is PERFECT. I usually have extra capors from my own chicken cacciatore. PERFECT! I admit that I added white wine and this was just d'bomb.

You can't get much easier than this. It was also very tasty! I didn't have blue cheese, so used ranch. My daughter and I enjoyed it.

I used this recipe instead of crescent rolls for Country Apple Dumplings from this site. Excellent!

Country Apple Dumplings

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2009
I made this using Splenda and I had to make my own crescent dough, but it was worth it because they were delicious! My daughter and I really enjoyed them. My husband had some after dinner and he LOVED them. He asked where I bought them!! I didn't tell him I used Splenda until he ate them and he said he could eat them every day---huge compliment to the submitter of the recipe.

My gravy! How cute are THESE?! My daughter had a friend coming over without much notice so I whipped these up as a treat and they just raved. So very, very easy and they look impressive. I did toast my pecans first.

Cranberry Pistachio Biscotti

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2009
I've made this several times this year. This is by far the most authentic biscotti recipe that I've come across. Using the olive oil is a must in my opinion. I've made this using pecans as well as pistachios...both are fantastic.

Beignets

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2009
Wow...my husband and daughter loved having a New Orleans type breakfast this morning, complete with a chickory blend of coffee that I happened to have. Been to Cafe DuMonde too many times to count and they said these were even better. For most of them, I used the traditional powdered sugar, and a few with cinnamon/sugar mixture. After cutting them with a pizza cutter, I let them sit for about 15 minutes while finishing up the bacon and when they cooked, they quadrupled in size--just beautiful. I am definitely going to take the previous reviewer's advise and make cinnamon-pecan rolls with the rest tomorrow. And maybe next time a spinach/mushroom type mixture since it's not sweet unless coated with sugar. This is absolutely a great find.

Insanely Amazing Jalapeno Cheese Dip

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2009
I just love this dip. The first time I made it, I made as written. The second time I used half mayo- half sour cream. Both were delicious. I am making it this weekend and will throw in crab and chopped artichoke and maybe a tad of cream cheese...such a great recipe to play around with! UPDATE: I did make with chopped artichokes and crab with a little softened cream cheese along with the sour-cream-mayo. It was so good each and everytime! I've made it in the bread bowl and without. So very good.

Super-Simple, Super-Spicy Mongolian Beef

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2009
I don't know what kind of steak I used (because the writing was in Chinese)but it was delicious with this. The sauce was so good. I did add more veggies because I just had a half of a handful of red bell pepper and three mushrooms and a few snow peas. I tasted the meat and sauce first so I could rate it fairly and man, was it good! Served with white rice cooked in beef broth.

Buffalo Shrimp

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2009
This was wonderful. I didn't dip them all in the sauce because my husband had really spicy food for lunch, so my daughter and I just dipped ours in the sauce one by one. The only change I made was to use 2 1/2 Tbsp. of hot sauce--the same ratio as the butter. My husband really liked the batter on the fried shrimp and said it was very flavorful.

Chicken Fettuccini Alfredo

I made an oppsie and didn't see it called for sour cream so I left that out. Other than adding shrimp to keep the chicken company, I made no other changes. Absolutely restaurant quality.

Quick Quiche

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2009
Wow--what a surprise! I was just expecting something that was "Quick" and not expecting it to be as tasty as this was. I added mushrooms and green onions to a little of the bacon grease and threw that in the mix. We loved it and I am planning on making this again for just me to munch on for a few days since I am going to go back to eating low-carb Monday morning.

Awesome and Easy Creamy Corn Casserole

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2009
I have made this twice now. Once last week as written (except I had to use a knock-off recipe for the Jiffy mix since they don't have them in my area.) Made again last night as another side to go with my husband's birthday meal, this time adding jalapenos lots of black pepper and a handful of cheese to the mixture. Fabulous stuff!

Shrimpcargot

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2009
I made this exactly as the submitter suggested, even though I was tempted to tweak. My mushrooms were not done enough for our liking. Next time I will doctor up a bit and pre-cook the mushrooms a bit first as others suggested. I love garlic butter, shrimp and mushrooms (what's not to love?)but will add a little white wine and lemon juice to it next time. Definitely don't skimp on the garlic butter!

French Bread Rolls to Die For

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2009
I hate to knead, I really do...however I wanted to try these rolls and they are very good. I put them in a muffin tin and they turned out beautifully. I had a few left over from last night, so today I scooped them out, heated them up and put in Baked Potato Soup from this site. A fabulous lunch.

Baked Potato Soup

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2009
I thought this was great as written, but did add a tablespoon or so of potato flakes because I usually take some out and puree but I didn't feel like it, and I topped the cheese and bacon with a few sprinkles of green onion. I had left over French Bread Rolls To Die For from this site, so I scooped them out, heated them up and used them as bread bowls for the soup. Pretty yummy!
