About this Cook
Financial Services Executive gone stay at home mom.
My favorite things to cook
we moved recently from Minneapolis to a small town in Mn (population 747) while there is a grocery store it carries little by way of non traditional spices so my cooking has to be, most days, simple.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My whole family cooks.. mom, aunts, grandmas etc. My mom is very accomplished gourmet cook and my aunt (who is very influential) is a great traditional cook. My grandmother could cook for a month it seemed from a turkey carcass or ham bone!
My cooking triumphs
I have no fear of attempting the cover of Bon Appetit. I did an awesome orange water, white chocolate and fruit cake. I've also done some BBQ ribs which involved brining the ribs for several days and the BBQ sauce had guava and pear nectar in it. They were good!
My cooking tragedies
I once did some BBQ ribs which involved brining them...yeah same ribs... walking them to the grill they were dropped!! we brushed off the dirt and threw them on the barbie not giving it a second thought!!

Cream Cheese Pound Cake III
This is a light and flavorful pound cake. I've made it using almond flavoring also. I was responsible for coffee type cake between services at church one Sunday. I lie not, when I say I saw several ladies actually wrapping pieces of this cake in napkins and conspicuously slipping it into their purses!

Brownie Caramel Cheesecake
I read many of the reviews, employed several of the recommendations, and still this doesn't work. The brownie bottom never got fully done and the consistency of the cheescake is simply unappetizing- and I've made many cheesecakes so it wasn't from lack of experience. I'd stay away from this one.

Swiss Chicken Casserole II
This is better when you replace the milk with a cup of white wine. Really adds a depth you don't achieve with the milk!!
