About this Cook
I never really thought of myself as someone who could cook well, until I met my husband. Now it's one of my favorite things to do, for just the two of us (with the dog and cat getting what crumbs they can grab!) or for dinner parties. I also really enjoy wine, and pairing foods and wines.
My favorite things to cook
Slow cooker meals-chili, roast beef, and the like. Grilled food-steaks, fish, beer can chicken is awesome! Breakfast. Sauces and marinades. Pies!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Cooking with my husband, where each of us takes control of one or two parts of the meal, taste testing along the way. We also do the same thing when we have a bunch of friends over for a weekend.
My cooking triumphs
My first New Year's dinner was a hit-grilled steak (yes in December!), twice baked potatoes, and salad. And wine, of course.
My cooking tragedies
I attempted to make a savory baked chicken once, and learned the hard way that a little rosemary goes a very long way!

Apple Crisp II
This recipe is delicious as is, and I've made it a few times as is. This weekend, I made it for a cookout with a few additions (2 more good shakes of cinnamon, 3 good shakes each of cloves and ginger; tossed the apples in the dry mixture to coat; only 2 T water) and people were LITERALLY eating it right out of the bowl...what a compliment! Thanks for sharing!

Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread
I've been making this for close to a year now. Every now and then I would attempt to try another recipe. There's no use! This one is delicious, and is now "my" cornbread recipe...thanks for sharing!

Mexican Rice II
I thought this was just okay, my husband even less so. The amount of cumin I think was too much-DH actually wondered if I'd put peanut butter in it!
