About this Cook
I am married to my awesome husband of 14 years. We have five kids together, ages 3-13, and two doggies, ages 4 and 13. We love to hang out at the beach and go fishing and swimming. I love to garden; both veggies and flowers. I also play the flute, piano and guitar and am very active in my church.
My favorite things to cook
Homemade pizza, pasta dishes, slow cooker meals and I love to can foods from our garden, such as: spaghetti sauce, pizza sauce and salsa.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every Friday night my husband and our five children make homemade pizzas and watch a movie together. I love that tradition!
My cooking triumphs
I created my own recipe for a delicious strawberry cake. My immediate and extended family members always ask for it for their birthday and family get togethers.
My cooking tragedies
My husband and I were married in 1994 and for our first Thanksgiving meal together I made a big turkey. I didn't know that turkeys were sold with a bag of "parts" stuffed inside. I baked mine with the bag in it. Needless to say, we ate a lot of mashed potatoes. :0)

Valentino's Pizza Crust
I have been making homemade pizza for my family for several years. We recently moved and I misplaced my basic dough recipe, so I searched on the site and picked this dough to make. My family LOVED it! They told me I didn't have to keep looking for the old recipe! :0) I did add a bit more sugar. And note, the dough is pretty sticky so you'll be tempted to add more flour but don't! I'm convinced that's why it bakes up so nicely! Also, I prebaked my dough in the pizza pan for about 15 minutes to make sure it would cook all the way through, then added toppings & cheese and baked for another 15 minutes. I topped it off with about a minute and a half under the broiler. All the way around, this pizza crust was great! It reminded my husband and I of Uno's Restaurant in Chicago. 5 stars for sure!
