About this Cook
Hi, my name is Kathryn. I am a California native, born and raised. I have been cooking professionally since I was 18, and I really love the fast paced environment a professional kitchen has to offer. I am also huge travel bug, and as I travel the country and the world I try to bring back recipes from the culture I visited.
My favorite things to cook
If you were to ask my family if I liked living in California, they would all laugh and say she loves it...And that comes through in my cooking. The type of cuisine that I am usually focused on is California cuisine with a Mexican infusion. I love taking the natural and fresh flavors of California and blend it with the colorful spices and traditions of Mexico.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I come from a large Irish family, and it is very much the stereo typical family...Big hams on Christmas, turkey on Thanksgiving, and of course the potatoes.
My cooking triumphs
I think my biggest cooking triumph is probably the fact that I finished culinary school with 3.9 GPA...And of course the fact that people pay to eat at the restaurant I run.
My cooking tragedies
Ugh, there are so many cooking tragedies in my life, but I think the one my family loves to talk about is actually the stupidest mistake on my part. Before I went to culinary school, I made a grill cheese catch on fire, and what made it worse is the Christmas break I had after already being in the culinary arts program for two years I did it again! Bottom line, even the most experienced cooks make mistakes, even stupid ones.
