I'm a professional winter athlete, who longs for the homefront. I'm recently married and hoping for children to happen soon. I've been cooking since i was about six years old... of course i've improved since then. My family is full of wiccans and so, I grew up with centuries of secret recipes all around me... cooking was and is and will always be an art, a manifestation of the cook's own energy and a touch of magic to me... a great way for introverts like me to connect to other people.
My favorite things to cook
people around me would say as long as it has butter, sugar or mayonnaise in it, it's a favorite of mine. I love recipies that balance eachother out, leaving the eater in a state of comatose bliss, and i have a large part of my heart devoted to easy recipes that look like they took hours of stress to make, it makes me feel sneaky I guess.
I also make a mean wedding cake thanks to months of cake composition and decoration school.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I make a 200 year old rum cake recipe, cream caramels, christmas fudge and lolly pops every year on yule for everyone on my christmas list, and all my neigbors.
And, on mabon (sept 21st) i make a giant, berry pavalova which i look forward to all year.
also, it's a tradition to make a big batch of mashed potatoes when I'm in a bad mood, which seems to do the trick every time.
My cooking triumphs
Anything I've tried once and decide to make again.
My cooking tragedies
Like any good cook.....
