About this Cook
Medical student who needs to relax with a good meal now and again...
My favorite things to cook
Moroccan cous cous; "faux" Thai food with brown rice; roasted meats; easy tapas-style snacks
My cooking triumphs
I'm good at tasting things in restaurants and re-creating them at home. In Central America I had chicken covered in a dense, sweet almond puree. Tried it at home and it turned out even better.
My cooking tragedies
While visiting a relative in Italy, I bought some beautiful cuts of pork but had no idea how to cook them. Threw them in a pan with olive oil +salt/pepper but the steaks curled up into chewy little balls on the high heat! Also recently tried to put Pad Thai sauce on soba noodles... tasted like dirty socks.

Pasta with Spinach Pesto Sauce
Both my boyfriend and I were not fans of this recipe. The tart flavor of the spinach was overwhelming, and it did not mix well with the garlickiness.

Chocolate Pie II
Amazing! Can't believe it was made in the microwave. I used gourmet organic cocoa powder and it made the pie dark and rich. It was not very stiff, the filling came out a bit gloopy, but personally I like it this way.
