I'm a young married living in a suburb of Dallas, Texas with my husband and our weimeraner puppy, Daphne. He was the cook for awhile as his Latino Mom passed along her talent of naturally knowing the right things to put into recipes and throwing in the right amounts without a recipe. I was the baker as I loved to find good recipes to follow for yummy desserts. Recently I found allrecipes.com and have been trying all kinds of easy and delicious dishes and I'm catching up to him in the chef department! I really enjoy this web site.
My favorite things to cook
I love using the crock pot as my husband and I both work full time and it's awesome coming home at the end of a long day and having a hearty meal ready for us.
I like cooking holiday side dishes and trying new things. Dishes that have a short list of ingredients and don't take hours work best for me. I like making people happy with my cooking.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My Mom always made meatloafs and All American comfort foods like mashed potatoes. She didn't spend much time teaching us girls to cook but now I call her all the time when attemping first time cooking feats like the 12 pound turkey for Thanksgiving.
My Dad is big on catching and cooking fish. I love eating the different types of White Fish and his vidalia onion dressing salmon dish that he makes.
My cooking triumphs
I made a delicious lasagna for the first time and it turned out great! Many things I make in the crock pot turn out fabulous and my husband says he eats like a king!
My cooking tragedies
Sometimes when I move too quickly I misread directions like putting a cupful of oil when making chinese dumplings instead of a capful! Also I made chicken breasts once that were supposed to be topped by crushed croutons and I just left the whole little chunks together on top of the chicken. My brother in law thought that looked odd!
