My favorite things to cook
I love to cook new things, esspecially if they are from scratch. I like the satisfaction of learning how to make something that most people would buy. Right now I am consumed with making home-made baby food for my 7 month old little girl.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family is from Mexico. We loved to make HUGE batches of tamales as a family. This would take all day long. In assembly line style, everyone would spread the masa on the husks except my mom and dad. They would spoon on the meat filling and roll the tamales. We couldn't wait to gobble them up! My parents usually made some seperately for themselves when we (6) kids were little. We couldn't eat the very hot ones. Now I love them hot!
My cooking tragedies
When I was newly married and very inexperienced in cooking I invited my in-laws for dinner. I had made roast in the crockpot and loved the results so I thought I would try chicken for something new. I cooked it for HOURS. The meat was WAY over cooked. It was like that gross potted meat you can buy in a can. I hid the mess, and served tacos instead.
