About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
I love a challenge, but my favorites are baked goods. I love baking my own bread, making cookies, bagels, soft pretzels, fudge, all the family favorites.
My favorite family cooking traditions
When I bake bread the traditional way, I give a bit of dough to each of my small children so they can kneed and form their own loaves. The result is great family time and memories as well as teaching them that people used to have to do it themselves instead of buying from the grocery store.
My cooking triumphs
Not really cooking, but I learned to flavor butters for the holidays. I make a garlic-herb one that is a huge family hit. The other is the Liver Pate' recipe that my mom passed down from my step-grandmother. I get requests for this one all the time!!
My cooking tragedies
You know those miracle bars that you make from the back of Eagle Sweetened Condensed Milk? Mine still taste delicious, but look like glue. If any has any ideas, please let me know :)

Peasant Bread
This is delicious! Definitely best when using the French cycle with light crust when using the machine. The crust was very crispy and wonderful! I will never again waste my time or money on store-bought crusty breads. This is more like Italian or Vienna, with a lightly sweet flavor. We ate it up in one sitting, it was so good!
