i tried this recipe because it was given 5 stars by many reviewers. but sadly, it didn't work for me. they're not fat, they are FLAT! i followed the recipe exactly and i was sooooooo disappointed. the reason why it was chewy was because it's full of sugar ... there isn't enough flour to hold the cookie together in my opinion ... so i blended some quick cooking oats and added it to the mixture to salvage my cookie dough, then my cookies turned out fat ... the way i like it. lol. i probably won't melt the butter ... anyway, i won't keep this recipe. :(

i'm a newbie when it comes to cooking or baking ... or anything to do with the kitchen at all. :p but this recipe is pretty easy. i didn't have buttermilk, so i added about a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar to whole milk as a substitute. i also added about a cup of raisins. i think it turned out pretty ok. it tastes a whole lot better if you eat it with strawberry jam. :) oh, i think you have to let it sit for a while before baking the scones.
