I am not retired, yet, and I look for recipes that are quick and easy, and less fatening most of the time. Our children are grown and gone and since it is just the two of us at home I don't cook like I used to. Grilling is great, especially because hubby does all the grilling! We have been in a dinner group for 18 years and have enjoyed trying new recipes and themed menus. Food, friends and laughter...a great mix!
My favorite things to cook
Grilling.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Once a year on Christmas morning I make my special pecan rolls. When I offered to give the recipe to our son, he said he didn't want it because it wouldn't be the same. A very nice son.
My cooking tragedies
Many years ago I made a shrimp dish with a white sauce that called for "seasoned pepper". Not knowing the difference, I put regular pepper in the sauce and that much pepper ruined it. We took out the shrimp, rinsed it off, and ate it sans sauce.
