Army wife and mother of four. I was born and raised in Texas and currently live in Temple Tx. As a young child, I hated to cook. My Grandmother and Aunts use to gather in the kitchen and cook sometimes all day long. I would sit there just to hear them talk about the old days and how things were when they were kids. As I got older, I wanted to learn how to cook; I would often bake with my Grandmother and for her church. After getting married and having kids, all I ever want to do is cook. My husband eats everything and he and my 10 year old are my taste testers.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook good ole southern dishes. I enjoy experimenting and use Sunday as the day to do that.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Gathering together for the Holidays or just having a big get together at anyone's house.
My cooking triumphs
Thanksgiving Dinner for 25 Soldiers. My Husband is active duty in the Army and during the holidays, some of the soldiers don't get the chance to go home. So, last year we had 25 soldiers and their families at our house for dinner
My cooking tragedies
The first time I tried to BBQ. Being from Texas you would like that I knew how, but as a kid, my Mom would BBQ every weekend and I got burnt out on it. So when I tried for the first time, I burnt everything, earning the name Soot Queen.
