About this Cook
I am a physician, currently not working (early retirement after 23 years). I have 4 children, 3 dogs, and 2 cats. I love cooking and eating, outdoor activities, spending time with my family, volunteering at churh and school, and doing needlepoint.
My favorite things to cook
I love to try different kinds of recipes, especially desserts and main courses. Nothing too fancy. I don't cook much seafood, but I am trying to expand.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I always make a traditional Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner of roast turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, and green bean casserole. My family won't let me change it one bit! I also make a lot of cookies at Christmas and give them away, a growing tradition.

Simple Sassy Salmon
My daughters and I really enjoyed this recipe. I did not have honey mustard so I used one tablespoon of mustard and one tablespoon of honey. I also used fresh minced garlic instead of the powder. Very easy and very yummy!

Slow Cooker Spicy Black-Eyed Peas
These are the best black-eyed peas I've ever made! Even members of my family who don't usually like black-eyed peas like these! The only thing I changed was using canned chicken broth (2 cans) and no bouillon cube, and made up the rest of the volume with water. I also used a honey-baked ham bone instead of diced ham and bacon. They are scrumptious!

Grilled Salmon with Cilantro Sauce
I am not a huge fan of fish and am always looking for recipes that I like because fish is so healthy, and this recipe is wonderful. My family loved it! Using some of the suggestions, I added the juice of one lime, canned jalepeno because I did not have fresh, some fresh garlic, and Tony Cachere's Creole Seasoning because I did not have Old Bay. Grilling on the foil made it so easy, too. We will have this again!
