Sweet, Sticky and Spicy Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2009
I made this for dinner today and it was awesome! My family loved it and so did I. I followed the recipe as written and made these changes: 1. Added 1 t. crushed red pepper flakes & 1/2 t. cayenne pepper for additional spice. 2. I doubled all the ingredients of the sauce so there would be more on the chicken and since I was serving this over Jasmine Rice. 3. I dredged the chicken strips in flour and only let them brown...I did not cook them until done. 4. I did not add salt...it didn't need it with the hot sauce and soy sauce. 5. I let it reduce over low heat for about 15-20 minutes. It thickened wonderfully and was all that the title implies: sweet, sticky & spicy! Great recipe and one that my family is already asking for again! Thanks Kate!

These were not for me or my family. While we love pancakes and bananas, we just weren't impressed with these.

Lemon Glazed Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2009
This is a great cake...just finished eating a piece still warm from the oven. I did add lemon zest as well as a teaspoon of vanilla to the icing. For the cake, I included 1 tsp. real lemon extract in place of part of the water. It's a wonderful cake. I may try experimenting with the icing the next time I make this because there WILL be a next time! Thanks for a great recipe.

Get a Husband Brunswick Stew

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2009
For my personal tastes, this was okay but the barbecue sauce was too overpowering in the stew. If I make it again, I will either omit it altogether or will definitely not use as much as the original recipe calls for.

Chicken Soup III

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2009
This is one of my favorite recipes to date from this website! I have made it so many times this winter that I've lost count because people have requested it again and again. I have made a few variations to the recipe; I added fresh garlic. Sometimes, I will use boneless chicken breasts and chicken broth as well as a stick of butter depending upon the amount of time that I have. I have also substituted egg noodles instead of the rice at times. Whichever way I've doone it, it doesn't matter! The results have been the same and people have raved over this soup. Thanks for an absolutely wonderful recipe!

Honey Mustard Dipping Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2009
I have a good friend that is on a special diet and has to watch the types of things she eats. This website has become one of my most used tools in finding things she's allowed to have so she will continue to have variety. She loves honey mustard dressing but the store-bought varieties have things she isn't allowed. This worked great for her and it was delicious to boot!

Luscious Slush Punch

I used this punch for my daughter's 16th birthday party. It was a great success! I did cut the amount of sugar originally called for down to 1 cup and it was not missed. Otherwise, great recipe!

Cajun Chicken and Sausage Gumbo

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2009
This was fantastic! I have a friend that lives in LA and she made her gumbo when visiting with me...this recipe was very similar to hers. I used boneless chicken breasts that I sauteed in olive oil before adding to the gumbo and used a jalapeno sausage for extra spice. Thanks for a great recipe!

Creamy Mustard Pork Chops

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2009
This recipe was very simple to follow which was great because my daughter is learning to cook and I was looking for something she could make. Tastewise, it was good but I don't know that it's a recipe that I would make a lot. None of us finished it on our plates. It just seemed as though something was missing. If I were to make it again, I would definitely have to tweak the recipe.
