I'm an excellent cook and have passed my cooking skills on to my daughters. The youngest daughter is actually a very experimental, and good cook. she works fulltime and serves her family homemade dinners every night. I never gave my family frozen dinners or prepared food when they were growing up and surprisingly they have carried on the tradition. we love good food and healthy alternatives to.
My favorite things to cook
I love to make soups, all kinds of soup. I like experimenting with ingredients and creating tasty combinations.. I say if you make good soup your a good cook. My other great treat to make is Pies, My Daughters says my crust is always the best, my neices and nephews travel home to visit and it is a given that I make them a pie... they said it wouldn't be home without that special treat.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Making Italian cookies for Christmas, My children grew up with them at christmas and now my grandchildren wait for them every year.
My cooking triumphs
I won a local cooking contest with a special West African shrimp recipe that my mother had from the 50's, It is also one of my family's favorite shrimp treats and very unique. I won a Microwave and $50.00 back in the 80's. that was my 15 seconds of fame. And a big deal in my little town.
My cooking tragedies
probably quite a few when I married my husband almost 50 years ago, he would probably remember more then I.
