About this Cook
I am a mother of 2 of my own, and helping my husband raise 2 of his as well. I am a full-time student. I love cooking and baking, and I do it every chance I get.
My favorite things to cook
I love baking. Desserts are my favorite, but fudges seem to be what I'm best at. I also love making soups and things in the slow cooker. Nothing's better than coming home and not having to do anything but set the table and eat. I want to learn lots more on pie baking. I haven't baked that many varieties yet.
My favorite family cooking traditions
It's become tradition that whatever gathering we go to, I bring the mashed potatoes and gravy. I usually don't have to worry about bringing any home. :)
My cooking triumphs
Fudge...chocolate, peanut butter, maple, peppermint...I love making them and have gotten to the point where they always turn out. My lasagna and my creamy baked potato soup are also big hits as well.
My cooking tragedies
A green cake when I was 12. I made icing instead of frosting and it absorbed all of it into the cake, which was tinted green. Very moist cake, but not very attractive! I made a lemon meringue pie for Thanksgiving this year and it was all separated and runny. My meringue turned out great, the rest...not so much!

Beer Dip I
Everyone who tries this recipe raves! I never get to take any home, so I've learned to make double and only take half or the family whines. We love it with pretzels, but my boyfriend and I love it with sour dough bread pieces. I cut up a bunch, or have the bakery slice small loaves and just pile them up around the platter around the bowl of dip in the middle and let them go. And boy do they go!! I also add a little garlic salt to the mix and also just add beer til we like the consistency. We find that a little thinner with the bread works best.

Classic Vanilla Buttercream Frosting
I thought this was going to be much more "putsy" than it was. Going by previous reviews, I made sure the yolks were cool enough, and only used the recommended amount of powdered sugar and it worked great! It's so silky and just the right sweetness. I've found a new family favorite that I'll be using again and again! Thank you for sharing!!
