About this Cook
Grew up in South Boston, learning to cook most everything from my Dad, he was very creative. I have a son with milk product allergies so cooking from scratch is a must in my house, improvising should be my middle name!!
My favorite things to cook
big meals, especially italian! Love to bake, quick breads don't last very long in my house! Starting to use the Crock Pot alot lately too!!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Chex mix at Christmas time, Making a big batch of beef jerky when my son goes back to college after a home visit. Making something new for my milk allergic son that typically would have milk products in it!
My cooking triumphs
Making something milk free that tastes just as good as if it had milk or butter or cheese in it.
My cooking tragedies
Toffee...no matter how much I've tried, I can't get it right :(

Elegant Penne with Asparagus and Shrimp
Excellent dish, the wine and fresh lemon juice came through just beautifully!!! A++++. I used chicken as my husband is allergic to shrimp.

Magic Cookie Bars from EAGLE BRAND(r)
These bars have always been one of my favorites, now with a son who is allergic to all milk products I have become the improv queen....Dairy free version is outstanding!!!! I use homemade sweetened condensed milk or Coco Lopez cream of coconut, Sunspire chocolate chips(dairy free) and unsalted Fleishman's margarine is dairy free!! No one ever knows they are milk free.

Jordan Marsh Style Blueberry Muffins
Anyone who grew up in Boston remembers Jordan Marsh and the bakery down stairs!! I have this recipe, I also have a son with milk allergies, so I make these with almond milk and I sprinkle Wilton's large granule sugar on top before baking!! They are the best ever, especially when using a jumbo muffin pan!!
