Awesome Steak Marinade

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2008
This was absolutely a great recipe, the steak melted in your mouth. We used Lee&Perrins Steak sauce and Kraft Italian dressing along with 5 tri-tip steaks OMG!!.. we were wanting more steak. I only marinated our steaks for 5 hours, next time I'm going to make extra sauce to put on after. Thanks for this recipe!

Sweet and Tangy BBQ Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2008
We recently celebrated our 24th wedding anniversary with a BBQ dinner and this is the sauce we used for our pork ribs. It was delicious!!!..We like spice so it was just right, though my husband wanted more spice to it. I dont think I will buy bottled sauce ever again this was too easy. Tip: Sauce is better the 2nd day.

Very tastey! Putting under the broiler for a minute or two is a good idea it crisps them up a little. Very good complement to the "BBQ Steak" recipe on this site.

Crumb-Coated Chicken Thighs

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2008
This is definately better than Shake n Bake. You control the amount of salt and ingrediants. I did double the recipe since the amount in the recipe was not enough. I think next time I'm going to use italian bread crumbs. But good recipe anyway.

Bowties and Broccoli

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2008
Ok, this was pretty good but be sure to follow suggestions, such as "cheesecakemama". I followed it plus added a pinch of pepper flakes or to taste and some crispy crumbled bacon from breakfast. Add chicken broth instead of water, salt and pepper to taste and you have a pretty tasty meal. Its great for a side dish or leave out the bacon and you have a vegetarian meal.

Roasted Garlic Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2008
For me this recipe was ok. I didnt roast the garlic long enough, so i had big chunks of garlic on the bread which I didnt mind but others at my party were picking it off. I will give this another chance.

Party Punch IX

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2008
This was a hit at a bridal shower I had, I did add fresh chopped strawberries. I got many compliments. After a few asked for the recipe I told them, they thought it was too much trouble, but for me this is the only punch I'm serving for my parties. By the way this is not for diabetics! Try working with sugar free jello as others have.

D's Famous Salsa

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2008
Talk about addictive. I make alot of differant fresh salsa's but I will have to say this is absolutely the best ever. Great job D ! I made it for a baby shower and everyone loved it I was even asked to make it for a wedding, even though they had someone else scheduled to bring salsa... sorry they want to cancel the other salsa. It was so addicting we couldnt stop. I had to hide some for my husband. I followed the recipe to a 'T' with fresh jalapenos for that extra kick and I made it a day in advance. Two days later it was that much better. This is it, stop looking! 10 STARS for this!!!

Cajun Spice Seasoning Mix in a Jar

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2008
This is a great cajun seasoning, I would give it 5 stars but I decreased the salt to half a cup and our 'Southern Pulled Pork' (from this site) was still a bit salty. The BBQ sauce balanced it a bit. But next time I will use less. I also added 1 tsp. Thyme and 1 tsp. Oregano. I love creating my own seasonings, people always ask what the flavors are. Thanks for this one, its a winner with me.

Southern Pulled Pork

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2008
Delicious! I followed others tips added half beer and half chicken stock, decreasing both to 3 cups of liquid, I also omitted the liquid smoke, next time I will try a bit. Also added homemade cajun seasoning from this site and 'Sweet Baby Rays' BBQ sauce and it was a hit. The spicy flavor was great, BBQ sauce was not even necessary. We used Ranch rolls and added extra juice from the pork for dipping in, kinda like hot roast beef sandwhiches. I think with a little adjusting in seasonings this would be great for pork tacos. Chicken Stew with Dumplings

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2008
Today was a blustery, snowy day and what an amazing stew to bring warmth to our home. The dumplings added a great flavor and thickness to the stew as well as 1 can of cream of chicken soup. I followed alot of suggestions, omitted the basil since it didnt sound good, and added corn,it was what I had on hand. I added onion and garlic powder along with cayenne pepper to the dumplings. My family enjoyed it very much. Thanks!

Lemon Garlic Tilapia

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2008
This was not a big hit for us.I purchased fresh talapia which Ive cooked differant ways before, but this recipe was very fishy tasting and a bit bland and hard to swallow. The flavor of the lemon was not detected so we squeezed fresh lemon to try and enhance it. I usually try to give each recipe a second chance but I will pass on this one.

No-Salt Seasoning

This is pretty awesome stuff. I dont even miss the flavor of salt. We sprinkled it on corn on the cob, used it in 'oven brown rice' a recipe on this board, tossed green salad with lime vinegrette.Mmmm!

Oven Brown Rice

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2008
I would of like to give this 5 stars but it took 1 1/2 hours to cook and I did cover it, also some pieces were still crunchy, but over all this is the best brown rice we've had. I added 'no salt seaoning' a recipe on this board and decreased the seasoning salt to 1/2 tsp. Very good, I will try and do this on the stove next time. *Dont use a rice cooker they are made for white rice only! *Update- I've made this on the stove cooking it for 40-45 minutes and it comes out wonderful. This is so much easier than cooking it in the oven. Now it deserves 5 stars.

It was great, I will be making this again.Maybe next time I will try and grill it, Heat up the sauce and glaze the salmon while grilling. Can't wait it already sounds good!

Tortilla Soup I

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2007
This was my first time makeing tortilla soup. Ive tasted others but I have to say this was so far the best. I tweaked it a bit following other suggestions. I fried the tortilla strips to make crunchy, and then added green chili instead of jalapenos, and skipped the onion rings. I served it with a dallop of fat free sour cream and monterey jack cheese in the bottom of the bowl, ladled soup over this then added crispy tortilla strips and cilantro with a lime wedge. We loved it, it was great!

We were not impressed with this recipe. The flavor was nothing great. I followed it to a "T" and we do like dense bread. Maybe I will give it a 2nd chance and follow the suggestions of others. Its just we've had better. Our family will keep searching for that awesome banana bread.

Glazed Meatloaf II

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2007
Yummm! This was delicious!! I changed it up a bit with ingrediants I had. Instead of beef bullion I used 1 bullion of Tomate y Pollo. I'm a latin cook. And for a little kick 1 diced jalapeno. Then after cooking for the alotted time I piled on homemade mashed potatoes and cheddar cheese. We used the sauce to put on our individual servings since my son does not like sweet mixed with his food. Everyone loved it better than my old recipe and this was easy. Thanks!!
