I'm from the south, have the southern accent,but totally useless when it comes to cooking.I always followed my Dad around, so never learned how to cook.While on vacation after graduation,I went to Ohio to see grandparents.I fell in love with a yankee.He thought I was a great cook because my grandma was doing it, I took the credit.He asked me to marry him,that's when he found out the truth.Been together for 25 yrs. cheesecakes,beef stir-fry, & fried chicken. My Mom,Grandma,sister & Aunts in kitchen cooking for the holidays.Watching them give suggestions & sometimes disagreements about cooking,while the rest of us kept sneaking in grabbing food & being chased out.The food was ALWAYS great!! Learning that a broiler pan does come out to clean it & that a self cleaning oven just isn't as it seems! I put bacon in the broiler of a gas oven.Oven was a self clean so I didn't take out the pan(didn't know it came out),next day baked chocolate chip cookies.Smoke filled the house neighbor thought house was on fire so fire dept. came & there I stood in the kitchen with my cookies(not burnt) as they entered my home.Uncle said they were the best bacon chocolate chip cookies he ever had!!I have an electric stove now.
