I am 23 years old. I have been married for just a little over a year and I am in school full time to be an elementary teacher. My husband is my best friend and cooking partner! Growing up, the ladies always cooked together in my house, so now that I am married, my husband likes to share the kitchen with me, and we have the best time together when we create new tasty menu items!
My favorite things to cook
Anything new! I love to try different things and be creative. I also love anything with chocolate, cause that's what i love to eat! Italian, lots of chicken, any fish, and salads. We also like to come up with our own tasty sauces like homemade spaghetti sauce, gravys, and dressing for salads.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I used to help my mom make dinner growing up. It was great quality time together! Then every year, we always decorated cookies, and fun treats to music while cooking in the kitchen! Even today, around the holidays, we turn on the music and spend all day in the kitchen, it's a fun time with the girls!
My cooking triumphs
I love to make chicken and seafood dishes in any new variety. I find that most of them are pretty good! We also eat a lot of Mexican and Italian; there are lots of variety of things to do with it! My favorite time to cook anything is during the fall/winter, even though i love summer and spring the most and grilling is so yummy, it's so much fun to cook when it's starting to cool down and the holidays are rolling around.
My cooking tragedies
The thing i mostly need to improve on is my soups, stews, and basically things that go in the crock pot. I don't know if it's the pot, or just me, but something is not mixing well! I find that i have a hard time debating when something is done, or not done enough, when it's on the stove it's easier to check but when it's in the crock pot, in a huge bowl full of broth, it's harder to tell. I have ruined a pot roast before, making it way too thick because instead of just letting it gradually fall apart, i picked at it wondering for hours if it was done yet.
