From my username, i love horses, as well as art, music, poetry, baking, theatre, Disneyland, family and friends. I enjoy cooking with allrecipes member: sunshinequine. We love trying new recipes and giving new twists to old favorites. Our greatest undertaking has been creating gluten-free foods without compromising flavor! Its been great to see friends and family fall in love with these gluten-free creations as well.
My favorite things to cook
Asian, Greek, Italian, and French foods. Healthy and simple but with a burst of flavor. Gourmet but not too expensive, although i will splurge on a bold ingredient that i know will be the star of the dish! Easy but not quick; food is an art and i dont mind taking the time for preparation and presentation. And I am a tea-aholic!
My favorite family cooking traditions
While German heritage brings delights like apple strudel and beef stews, i really go nuts for Asian cuisine, French cooking techniques, and Italian ingredients.
My cooking triumphs
An Italian 5 course dinner for friends and family including: Pesto toasts, melon and prosciutto platter, Italian salad, garlic bread, homemade lasagna, homemade cannolis. I love cooking and baking with allrecipes member: sunshinequine! Some of our greatest accomplishments include coconut cream pie, cream puffs, onion rings, and "clone of a cinnabon".
My cooking tragedies
A lemon meringue pie that was just disaster. I forgot to bake the crust before putting the lemon and meringue on top. then wanted the pie to cool faster so i put the pie in the freezer and the meringue shrank to a tiny plop in the center. the filling tasted great though!
