My favorite things to cook
Desserts! We like to try new things and different ethnic dishes. So as long as it's complicated or different, I will probably try it. :) Chicken usually prevails as the meat of choice though.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I come from a large, mostly female, Slovak family. Usually I was put in charge of desserts, but recently I've learned our traditional Cabbage Rolls. Others that the family cooks are Gulash, Chicken Pepperkosh, and Cheesecakes.
My cooking triumphs
I still feel like I haven't had a "triumph". But things go about average. Best recipes I think we've come across include a raspberry truffle chocolate brownie and a Chicken spaghetti carbonara.
My cooking tragedies
The first time I was baking cookies for my boyfriend I was very nervous. I had used a recipe that I don't usually use (not on purpose) that was from Crisco. In this recipe it calls to use their shortening. Well, I used butter instead... not just butter, but I picked up salted butter. I made a purchasing mistake and it was TERRIBLE. They were flat and dense, a little greasy looking, and tooooo salty. woops.
