About this Cook
I grew up in a typical southern family who taught me the top three priorities in life are God, family, and good food. I am a mother of three children, all of which were born in the first four years of my marriage. My husband is a wonderful man from Texas. Having the chidren so close together, I rarely have time to stroll through food preperation, but when I get the chance I love to take a couple of hours preparing a meal.
My favorite things to cook
Just about anything Mexican or Italian. I also love to fix anything sweet and homemade breads.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every Christmas, Mama would pull out the cookie cutters and we would make cookies until we were sick from the pinches of dough we would sneak. Also, during the week, we would eat a fast breakfast on our way to school. On Saturday mornings, though, Mama would fix a big breakfast with cinnamon toast, pancakes, waffles, homemade biscuits, or coffee cake. It was a great time of triping over each other in the kitchen and then sitting down to a wonderful meal.
My cooking triumphs
To-die-for homemade dinner rolls. I also make some pretty awesome oatmeal raisin and no-bake cookies, and I have conquered tortilla roll ups.
My cooking tragedies
Every so often I will be in a hurry or I will have a child, or two, in my ear and I don't pay quite close enough attention to my ingredients list. I have left the oatmeal out of the oatmeal raisin cookies (The dough was a little runnier, but not really that noticeable until the raisin smears came out of the oven)and there was one time I didn't put the yeast into the bread machine. That was the flatest, most aweful bread I have ever made. The rising really does make a difference in taste.

Chicken Lo Mein
I have made this recipe numerous times now, and I am so glad that I did so AFTER reading the other reviews. This is a wonderful recipe of the suggested modifications. Do not use water. This has a wonderful taste and texture without it. I cannot imagine how runny and icky it would be with it. Also, I have always used ground ginger and I only use a small pinch because we are not big on ginger. The oyster sauce is a must. If you don't use it, you will notice something is missing. I also like to add brocolli when and bamboo shoots just for fun. I love this recipe and make it about once a week, but had to rate it a 3 due to all of the modification made.

Chicken Tortilla Soup III
I used only 2 cups of milk and one can of chicken broth and ALOT of flour and this was still very thin, although it did have a good flavor. If you are looking for a thin tortilla soup, this is it, however if you would like a thick tortilla soup (like I was), let me make a few suggestions. Use three cans red enchilada sauce, one can cream of chicken, 1 onion, one can chicken broth, and 1 - 2 cups milk. When you sprinkle the cheese on top it will be much thicker. Hope this helps.

Vanilla Milkshake V
The ingredients were correct however the amounts led to a very runny milkshake. We added two additional scoops of icecream (all of our scoops were made with an icecream scoop and the scoops were large)and an additional ice cube. Then it needed a little more flavor so we added more vanilla.
