I love baking...cookies, pies, and cakes. But, I enjoy cooking in general, especially when I'm not pressed for time. And lately, I'm enjoying trying new recipes that are unusual for me. I love baking for the holidays! I love the way the house smells while baking the pies and cakes and other treats. Reminds me of holidays spent in my granny's kitchen helping her. My very first baking triumph was at 14 when I mastered the pound cake recipe my daddy brought home from his boss's cook. He gave it a shot...and pronounced his attempt a HUNDRED pound cake, lol. Then handed the recipe over to me to work at. His delight in my triumph was the beginning of my love of baking. Not long ago I decided I wanted to try a 'sloppy joe shephards pie'. I used Manwich and topped with mashed potatoes. Not good. I haven't even attempted to work on this one, lol.
