Wife and mother of one little girl born in Oct. 2005. I am a stay at home mom and enjoy cooking for my little family. We are on a very limited budget I only buy what is on sale (except for milk, cheese, eggs and other staples). Since meat has become a rarity in our home we have *almost* become vegetarian and I have become an expert at substitutions of all sorts. I cook every dinner from scratch and pack away leftovers for lunches or for other recipes. The rare time I don't make dinner is when we are entertaining and then my husband cooks.
My favorite things to cook
I make lots of stirfry (no oil in it though because I make the sauces with it), Mexican/Hispanic/Latino and casseroles. I like to use a lot of wine in my cooking. I have found that it adds a flavor that most people like but can't put their finger on.
My husband is the gourmet of the house. He likes making Mediterranean, middle eastern, Japanese and other exotic dishes. He grew up in a military family and has a taste for the exotic.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We try to have dinner around the table every night, but that doesn't happen so often with my husband odd work hours.
My cooking triumphs
That my daughter will eat *almost* everything I make!
My cooking tragedies
The frist year cooking, I put the plastic flour container on a hot stove. Needless to say, that was bad!
