About this Cook
I am a stay-at-home mom of two boys, ages 6 and 3 1/2. I have been happily married to my best friend for 8 years. Recently relocated our family from Portland, OR, to Lolo, MT. We love it here! Have been cooking ever since I was about ten. My grandmother taught me most everything I know, with some influence from my mother, too. I love to cook and bake, it's one of the ways I show my love and appreciation to my family.
My favorite things to cook
I really enjoy baking, anything! And big family dinners; I love preparing a huge meal for everyone!
My favorite family cooking traditions
One of my fondest memories is going to my great-grandmother's house and helping her bake "twisters". Just basic left-over pastry dough, twisted lengthwise, baked, and sprinkled with powdered sugar. So good! My great-grandmother was from Lithuania, and each year it became more and more difficult to understand her, as her accent became more thick! So, I usually just watched her hands do the work first, then followed!
My cooking triumphs
I have a knack for making really tasty, moist roasts. I am also not too bad at baked goods.
My cooking tragedies
The first Christmas we were married, I tried my hand at making eggnog. I thought it would be great because we both really like eggnog. I don't know, something went wrong and it was the worst thing either of us had ever tasted!

Fluffy White Frosting
WOW! This was wonderful! I made it exactly as written, and it turned out fantastic. It went perfectly with my lemon cake (which, I might add, wasn't anything special - just a mix). It fluffed up so beautifully, and held it's shape without needing to be refrigerated. Thank you for posting!

Black Bean and Corn Quesadillas
YUM!! Everyone in my house gobbled these up! The only thing I changed was I omitted the onions. I've been trying to find good vegetarian meals, as we eat them twice a week. Thank you for posting - I will definitely be making these again!

Mimi's Giant Whole-Wheat Banana-Strawberry Muffins
This was very tasty! I made a couple minor changes, however: used all applesauce and no oil, and omitted the strawberries. Very moist and delicious!
